Hello all!

It’s been a difficult few months, but I hope you all had a restful holiday season and the chance to spend some quality time with the loved ones.

We are happy to announce that, thanks to some new investments for which we are very thankful, we were able to hire a new full time software engineer. Please welcome Max Bittman to the team! We’re thrilled to have Max on board. This will really accelerate our progress toward making this wonderful thing we have imagined into a reality.

We are also optimistic about the future prospects for volunteer engagement. In early December, your intrepid traveler (me) went to Denver to represent UpRise at a meeting of the Association of State Democratic Executive Directors (ASDED). I also sat in on meetings of the Association of State Democratic Chairs (ASDC) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

I heard multiple speeches by the then-declared candidates for new DNC chair and I was delighted to hear from them a strong, shared commitment to funding and expanding organizing at the grassroots level. This desire to bring the process closer to the ground was unanimous among the many conversations I had with DNC members, Chairs and Executive Directors. I left feeling genuinely optimistic about the direction the Party seems to be taking, at least in terms of grassroots organizing.

We’ll see how this intention pans out in future DNC actions!
